"Mainstream headlines - pure comedy"

The above quote is from today's leading story on the website TruePublica and is written by an ex-British Ambassador.

He appears to know more than the Guardian.

Well, I never.

  1. I see you have unprovoked knife attacks on family outside a restaurant in Vienna last night. Perpetrator on the loose. Afghans involved in later stabbings.

    1. Last I heard was that 4 people were rushed to hospital with serious injuries and an Afghan male was later arrested. One female witness described her first impressions of the attack thus: "it looked as though he was beating his dog".

    2. I've no doubt Austria's new government will have something to say on the subject.

    3. Wednesday was a busy day for the doctors and the cops. In Salzburg a woman was stabbed in the stomach and her handbag stolen. Elsewhere there was a drunken brawl between two so-called friends 17 and 16. One produced a knife and stabbed the other in stomach and chest. In last 10 years 300% rise in knife crime.

  2. __ As I understand, three people of an Austrian family were severely stabbed, moments later a young Afghan man was knifed by the same assailant; societal anger.
__ 'Tis sad that we can "insult" other societies to a point of violent hatred_ by simply being_ who we are. _m

    1. A psychiatrist will decide. It's usual in these cases. Normally they find the suspect is unhinged. Does make easier for the victims, but if you can put a label on something it keeps the world turning.

  3. I oftenlook at the Headlines on the day's newspapers as I pass the stand. It is impossible to believe they are talking about the same story in many cases.

    1. Today I shall read the Daily Agenda and tomorrow the Morning Spin. In the cafe houses I read as many different papers as I can get my hands on. The new book by Umberto Eco is about a newspaper where they print tomorrow's news today. It's all fake of course.
